643Ink @ The People of Flavor Conference

•November 8, 2009 • Leave a Comment

As biracial, multicultural individuals, we were so thrilled to be invited by Ms. Jasmine Love of Westridge School in Pasadena to help with a photography project for the “The People of Flavor Conference.”

Our project was quite simple. We took a headshot of each participant and turned the picture into their nametag. The goal was to have each person list the cultures they identify with and claim under their picture.

It was a wonderful experience. Too often we take people for simply what see them to be. To have a picture with a disclaimer of sorts told us that what is truth is not all that meets the eye.

These were our practice shots of ourselves, with our cultures under them:

As our work on the project progresses, we will update the blog with our work. Thank you to all the participants for their patience and their smiling faces.

Halloween Details

We had the absolute delight of shooting our last wedding of the 2009 season on Halloween night! The couple, Abby and Gary, were absolutely fantastic, and we were honored to be part of their special day.

Abby’s energy let us know that we were in for a treat early on. We certainly were not disappointed with all of the small touches she and her husband put into the details of the wedding.

Here are some of the highlights:

Vow Renewal

•September 22, 2009 • 1 Comment

On Saturday, this lovely couple renewed their vows on their 10 year anniversary. All they had from their first wedding were memories, so pictures of this event were really important to them. We hope we were able to capture everything they wanted and more. We wish them much love and happiness.

Photo Albums

For the last few weeks, when we have had the time, we have been hard at work creating our very first leather-bound sample album.  We have decided to splurge and purchase the largest size at 12×12. This will be the first time we will be using a company called Kiss. They make gorgeous lay-flat albums in seven rich colors. Lay-flat albums are perfect for our style of layouts which often feature a full two-page spread.

We pride ourselves on our own unique style, and each and every photobook or album we make is designed solely by us.

The best thing we love about Kiss is that not only do their albums look beautiful, but they also provide leather-bound 4×4 albums which make great gifts for family and friends.

If you have any questions about our leather-bound albums or our hard cover photobooks please drop us an email 643photography@gmail.com

Mean while, here is a great shot.

Bridal Show at the Queen Mary

•August 20, 2009 • Leave a Comment

It has been a busy week fielding inquires from our last bridal show.  On Sunday, 643 Photography attended the Bridal Showplace at the Queen Mary.  It was exciting because it was only our second bridal show and our largest. There were over 1000 brides in attendance and so much going on. We had a blast meeting people. We were also very happy to be wearing jeans!

Here we are at the end of the day, a bit tired, but still smiling. CIMG5820

We also had the great privilege of having our booth next to a wonderful woman, Ophelia. As you can see in our picture, she had the most beautiful jewelry designs on display.  We marveled at her work, all handmade by herself in her spare time. When she is not making custom jewelry, she is playing the violin, a second service she also provides for weddings and other special occasions. We didn’t get a chance to hear her perform, but I am sure that if she is half as talented on the violin as she is crafting jewelry, then she is sure to be amazing. If you would like to contact her please let us know and we would be happy to provide you with her information.

Bridal Showplace @ The Queen Mary

We had such a great time meeting brides (and some grooms!) in Fullerton last month, that we decided sign up for a second bridal show.

We will be at the Bridal Showplace at The Queen Mary on August 16th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is a good opportunity for you to see some of our samples in person, to meet us, and to meet a lot of wonderful vendors.
