A couple of years ago, Tanaya shot the wedding of Colin and Selva. We were thrilled to be invited back to the O’Hara family to celebrate the recent wedding of Colin’s sister Erin to Mike. Their wedding was a destination wedding in December, but family and friends gathered yesterday to celebrate their recent marriage with a reception.

Here’s a sneak preview of their celebration:

{643} Wrapping up 2010!

December 3rd, 2010 § Leave a Comment

When we started out the year, Tanaya and I both had a lot of individual goals and a couple of business goals. Both writers, we set in motion some pretty substantial goals for ourselves and our personal projects. We also each had a set of individual goals for our personal photography.

As a company, we decided to take a more personal approach to our shooting. It was our goal to try to break out of the mold of “being” wedding photographers and letting our genuine love for photography and the art we tend to create individually shine through in our work.

So, as we close our wedding calendar for 2010, we would like to thank all of our amazing couples for a wonderful time this year! We couldn’t be more grateful to you for allowing us to capture the beauty of your day. And, again, we wish you all the best as you continue to build your lives together.

While we are closing our calendar for 2010, we are still have limited dates for family and portrait shoots. We are also starting to fill our 2011 calendar. If you are interested in booking us for your 2011 wedding, please contact us soon to lock in our 2010 rates.

Thank you again! Happy Holidays!

And, of course, we can’t help to have some fun ourselves:

2010 Review

Jana & Tanaya

{portraits} Marcus, Danae & Sterling

Marcus and Danae had the idea that they would have portraits done of their son, Sterling, every six months. I’ve had the great pleasure of shooting his newborn, six month, year and now 18-month photos. It’s been a great experience watching Sterling grow through the lens of the camera.

When we started talking about this shoot, I knew that Marcus and Danae would take care of all the little details—wardrobe, setting, timing. So, I only had one request.

I wanted to do some family portraits. And because I knew they were up for the challenge, I asked what we could do that would be “different.”

I have to say–not only was their idea great, but they executed it beautifully.

Every once in a while, Tanaya and I get the chance to shoot the wedding of a personal friend. While we enjoy all weddings, we love the added bonus of being behind the scenes of one of our friend’s big days. This particular wedding was even more exciting for me because I know both the bride and groom. My job in college was to work as a yearbook adviser, and both Corina and Litho were on the staff.

When we did our initial walk-through and they showed me where they wanted to shoot their portraits, I told them it was the perfect backdrop for photography. Corina admitted that the idea was Litho’s, and he said, “I learned something in yearbook.”

Their ceremony was at St. Cornelius Church in Long Beach, celebrated with a lifetime of close friends and family. The portraits were taken at Shoreline Park, and the reception was held at the Long Beach Marriott.

Congratulations, Corina and Litho! (Maybe it was all that time in yearbook!)

During that brutal heat wave that hit Southern California last month (the 113-degree heat wave), we shot the wedding of Candice and Donald in Dana Point. With friends and family in town from around the country, it was obvious how loved Candice and Donald are–and how much they’re in love!

There’s always that “one” thing we remember about a wedding. And for this one, it was definitely the heartfelt tears shared by family before the ceremony and the touching (and funny!) toasts during their reception.

Their ceremony was held at Lantern Bay Park in Dana Point and their reception was held at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center.

Congratulations, Candice and Donald!

After a week of rain, it was a gorgeous day in Long Beach, CA. We captured the marriage of Corina and Litho at St. Cornelius Church. Afterwards, we made a stop at Shoreline Park for portraits. This is one of our favorites…

Congratulations, Corina & Litho! Stay tuned for more pictures of their wedding.

We shot Candice & Donald’s wedding last weekend in Dana Point. A bright, warm day by the ocean was the gorgeous backdrop for their celebration!

For now a sneak peek of the first dance…

We always love to participate in weddings that celebrate the union of the couple, but sometimes we get the special treat of watching a true celebration of a union of lives and families.

We shot Heather and Steven’s wedding on a Saturday afternoon in Culver City. The entire celebration was filled friends and family who helped to celebrate the marriage of Heather and Steven. From the true bond of the bridal party with the bride and groom to the participation of mom and dad to the music that filled the ceremony, it was apparent that not only do Heather and Steven love each other, they are truly loved by everyone around them.

Congratulations, Heather & Steven! We were honored to be part of your special day!

When we shot Heather and Steven’s engagement pictures a couple of months ago, we knew we were in for a real treat in shooting their wedding. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of their special day!

{baby shower} Jamie & Matthew

We’re probably going to name him after me. But, then I really like the name Luke. It seems like a good strong name.

Like you’d get a football player out of him?

Matthew laughed as I relayed the conversation I had with his father. He can like any sport he wants, but he’s going to play football.

Jamie and Matthew celebrated the upcoming birth of their baby (Jamie is due on the 18th!) on Saturday. It was a pretty day in a park near their home filled with friends and family, lots of well wishes and a whole lot of laughter.

Congratulations Jamie and Matthew! We can’t wait to meet little Matthew–or Luke.
