Jana’s Favorites: Weddings

January 3, 2009 § Leave a comment

I’m going to start with the first wedding I shot semi-professionally. I had been thinking about wedding photography since high school when I was given a professional Nikon to use with my work on the Yearbook staff. One of my teachers loved my pictures so much that she asked me to shoot her wedding. I didn’t end up doing it for one reason or another, but a year later one of my co-workers asked if I would second-shoot her wedding because her photographers were both male and she wanted the “getting ready” shots.

So I went in not really knowing what I was getting into. It was an exhausting day, but something about it was absolutely enjoyable. It was a real honor to be that closely involved in someone’s wedding day. I think a part of me knew that I would do it again soon.

This is a shot I caught as the new bride and groom were heading out of the church.
