Just Six More Days!

Baseball has arrived! Yesterday marked the first day of the 2009 season and our boys in blue started it off right with a fantastic 4-1 victory against the Padres. Beyond the win, it was just nice to hear Scully on the TV again and read no less than 4 articles on the Dodgers in the LA Times sports section this morning.
I don’t know if it is the buzz of expectation for this season, or the high from winning the NLDS last October, but the excitement of Dodger baseball hasn’t been this electric in years. Whatever the cause, Jana and I have gone nuts. We currently have tickets for 28 games this season including the Home Opener which is just 6 days away!
It will be beyond fantastic to go to another Opening Day. A 643 tradition that I hope sticks from this year forward. There is just something so powerful about Opening Day, something that is indescribable. I think it has to do with the eternal optimism that to me embodies baseball.
The thought of this coming Monday makes my heart leap. Soaking in the sun at Dodger Stadium, breathing in the fresh air mixed with the smell of grass and dirt, sunscreen and Dodger Dogs. Singing and dancing along to the stadium music, rooting for our boys, feeling like kids again.
I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate Jana’s birthday.
Stay tuned for pictures and more!
